Marc,

Good to hear you got it back up and running smoothly. But it suxx that it was at the expense of losing programs.

Marc, good to hear you got things runnin' again...hope ya did'nt lose anything too important...that spyware sucks!!..remember when ya only had to worry about getting a virus??....i had some major computer problems a few weeks ago, could'nt even get on the internet...it kept sending me to this about "About Blank" page?.. it was spyware....anyway, i have a friend that works at a local computer store..he added Ad-Aware and Spy-bot to my pc, along with another product called Registry Mechanic...keeps you registry nice and clean....everythings runs smooth now...and lots faster.

Exclamation

Download Reg(istry)Cleaner, that shows you exactly what is on your computer and gives you the chance to clean it up a bit. It is here...
http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-dow...cleaner4.3.htm

You will see any scum/spyware.

Spybot is a necessity, as is AdAware.

I've had problems with MySpace myself. I've found WhenU and about ten other spy/scumware programs on my comp after visits to MySpace. I won't name names, but there is someone on there who is known for attaching trojans and sniffers to various boards he is involved with. No, it's not "Tom".

Can anyone give me a reliable site to download Ad Aware or whatever from? I have an updated daily antivirus working and i have no viruses from full scans i do, but i guess Anti Virus programmes don't detect spyware stuff? I haven't, as far as i know got anything like that, but still, i'm a worrier and would like to be as safe as possible lol!

make sure with as-aware and spybot that first thing you do is update them once you install them.

ad-aware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

spybot
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fil...d,22262,00.asp
(be careful where you download spybot from. there are spybot versions out there that contain spyware)

CWShredder

Hi-jack This (very good. removes BHO)

Autoruns (a MUST have. removes BHO)
